To provide financial assistance for veterinary services for companion animals with emphasis on spay, neuter, vaccines and emergency/lifesaving procedures. We mobilize the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors so that we are a part of the solution to the homeless/stray pet population, reducing shelter admissions and deaths, and keeping pets in homes, throughout the CSRA.
That’s What Friends Are For, Inc. is an all volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to fundraising and networking, and promoting camaraderie among animal rescue groups and individuals involved in improving animal welfare, to help find homes for the homeless and keep pets in their loving homes. By networking, we are able to reunite lost pets with their families as well as helping people find new pets to adopt into their homes.
Promoting Spay and Neuter is the most important message we share. It stops unwanted litters, whether owned or stray, cats or dogs, and stabilizes colonies of community cats.We believe in the humane method of Trap Neuter Return (TNR) to stop the population growth and spread of disease in cats that have been abandoned by humans and forced to fend for them selves. Many times when people ask for our help for an injured animal, we find them to be unaltered. Unaltered animals are injured far more often as they are seeking and fighting over mates and territories. Spay or neuter helps an animal have a much healthier life.
We hold fundraising events throughout the year and hope you will enjoy participating in them with us. Generosity comes in many ways, and has included donations of cars, a commercial grill, a mobile home, and so many wonderful items, all sold to benefit our lifesaving programs. Many businesses and individuals support our work by making donations or by sponsoring our events. The Community Foundation for the CSRA trusts our stewardship of donated dollars enough that they have honored us with grants to increase our programs. We encourage estate planning to leave a legacy of love for our programs as well as formulating a plan for pets left behind. Memorial donations and celebratory donations are greatly appreciated as well. Contact us if you want to discuss any of these options.
TWFAF was recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 not for profit organization in 2009 in the state of Georgia. Contributions to our fund are fully tax deductible to the extent of the law. Every dollar goes directly toward helping the animals. There is no money spent on salaries or professional fundraising. We accept tax deductible donations any day of the year. With the partnership of many local veterinarians, we work to stretch every dollar as far as possible, to help as many animals as we can, within the budget we have. Your donations help us to increase our reach.
So, I say to you, Join Us! Our animal loving community is filled with good, kind hearted people. Be kind to people and animals, and teach children compassion for all beings. Know that “You have not lived until you have given something to someone that can never repay you”, John Bunyan. Unconditional love and gratitude are heartwarming gifts that animals give freely when shown the least bit of love and kindness.
That’s truly what friends are for!
